Chalet Haute Cime

Chalet Haute Cime is an authentic chalet in the Vallée d’Abondance at Châtel in the French-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area. It has a surface area of 235 m2 and can accommodate up to 15 people. Chalet Haute Cime is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Châtel and close to the ski lifts: 200 metres from the Barbossine chairlift at Petit-Châtel and 500 metres from the Super-Châtel cable car.

The Haute Cime chalet was built, decorated and equipped in 2020 using the finest, top-of-the-range materials by local craftsmen and women.

The chalet has 6 bedrooms on 3 levels. There are 5 bedrooms with large double beds and a children’s bedroom with 4 bunk beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with a toilet. The chalet has 2 fully equipped kitchens and 3 living rooms with 3 connected TV sets.

Shuttles to the village and slopes are free for skiers and pedestrians. There are 2 stops close to the chalet: they are less than 100 metres from the chalet.

The chalet has been built on a large plot of land facing the mountains, with a south-facing petanque court and a children’s play area including an indoor table tennis table and table football. In winter, children can easily go tobogganing on the grounds. For outdoor dining and aperitifs, there is a large covered terrace on the east side and a second terrace on the west side for admiring the sunset. There are also 2 large south-facing balconies on the main level.

The chalet has ample storage for skis and boots, with direct access through the large electric garage door.

During your stay, the Haute Cime chalet manager is on hand to offer help and assistance. All household linen is provided: sheets, towels and kitchen cloths.

The location is very quiet and sunny, on the south-facing slope of Petit-Châtel, with a panoramic view of the mountains and the whole valley.

We speak English and French.

History of the Haute Cime chalet

The Leforestier family discovered the small village of Châtel in the 1970s. Rémy and Chantal are Norman by blood. They met at primary school in Saint-Laurent en Caux, a village in the heart of the Pays de Caux between Rouen and Dieppe. Rémy, after completing his military service with rigour, returned to the village to marry Chantal in 1971. Sébastien, the eldest, was born in 1972, a seasoned sailor and mountain man! Alexandre, nicknamed “the little goat”, was born in 1976. Yves and Anne-Marie Vion, Sébastien and Alexandre’s maternal grandparents, have a very much alive friend called Pierre. Pierre, a pork butcher with a passion for his trade in the Rouen region, invites the whole family to discover a picturesque village in the heart of the Chablais in the Abondance valley.

Rémy and Chantal discovered Châtel in 1978 with their children. At the time, there were very few ski lifts. Châtel was a village where the cows were happy and the milk was good. The beautiful farms of the Abondance valley seduced the family, and Rémy and Chantal decided to set down their hearts here at Petit Châtel in the hamlet of Quatre Saisons.

We spent our first night in 1980 in our cosy home called Les Marmottes, just above the Haute-Cime chalet.

Spring, summer, autumn and winter, the family crosses the valley’s mountain pastures, boots and skis on, to discover its wonders and sometimes the secrets of the Chablais. We’ve stayed at Les Marmottes for forty years and often ski down to the mountain pasture just a few metres away.  This mountain pasture is here. Your home. The Haute-Cime chalet. Little did we know that one day it would become our new refuge, and for a few days, your refuge.

Sébastien and Rémy have given their all to have it built in 2019 and 2020. The whole family poured their hearts and souls into making it a place where family, friends and guests would be happy.

Rémy left our world on 20 November 2019 after laying the first stones of the chalet. The Haute Cime chalet is dedicated to him, he rests in peace in the air and the flavours of the Abondance valley.

Haute Cime is one of the seven teeth of the Dents du Midi massif. It is the highest of the teeth: 3,257 metres. The ascent is long and sustained. From the top, the reward is equal to the effort. Your soul will be at peace and your body will be satisfied.

We hope you enjoy your stay at Chalet Haute Cime. Take care of it, it will take care of you. The Valleys of Abondance and Champéry, our neighbour in the Valais, are places where people are happy.

Warm regards, the Leforestier family.

Chantal

We had a very pleasant skiing holiday with the children, the village is beautiful. The chalet is spacious and very well equipped.

Alexandre

We were made very welcome at Chalet Haute Cime. When we arrived, the English lady gave us the keys and explained everything to us. It’s very clean, everything’s new and spotless. It’s quiet and the view is fantastic.
